Mrs. Ashley Smith has taken the role of advisor for Woodrow Wilson High School’s yearbook. When she’s not helping her Echo yearbook staff she can be found teaching ninth-grade English. A teacher for almost a decade, Smith is neither new to the art of education or the yearbook. During her high school career, she served as the editor of her own school’s yearbook committee.

400 copies of the 2022-2023 yearbook were sold, breaking the previous record of 380. Smith plans to continue breaking the record by selling over 425 copies this year. Following other groups and organizations in the building, yearbooks will be sold primarily online.

In addition to increasing the amount of books sold, Smith also plans to picture more diversity and candid photos. “Woodrow is one of the most diverse schools within the state and I want to make sure our yearbook represents that,” she shares. Her hope is to have over 650 students featured in this year’s issue. This goal has already been reflected on the yearbook’s own Instagram profile @beckleyflyingeagles.

If you are interested in joining the yearbook staff next year and wish to contribute to the goals of the staff, you can find and message their own Instagram profile.
