Woodrow Wilson teachers have elected Mr. Brandon Peters as teacher of the year. Mr. Peters is known as one of the kindest and most caring teachers in the school. This will be his fifth year teaching, and he has been teaching at Woodrow all five years. Mr. Peters says that the way he became a teacher was a random career change. He says, “ I wish I’d been teaching for much longer”. He enjoys teaching biology and has his Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and postgraduate Teaching Certification. Mr. Brandon Peters attended West Virginia University and Marshall University.
His advice to students is to use your head, or someone else will. The things that he teaches are Biology and Botany. He says he teaches biology because” Biology is such an important class because it involves things going on around us all the time, and the connections between them”.
Students of Mr. Peters say his class is hands-on, saying that they get to grow plants and go on walks outside, and they say he is very active in class, very talkative, and is a caring person. From one of his students they say “his favorite thing that he ha done in mr peters class is the study of plants” he also says “ they have a growing garden in a backroom in there class and he helps us step by step” but he also says “ Mr.Peters is a really fun teacher, he’s great to talk to, great to be around, he also really connects to the students, and he’s a fan of entertainment and you can really connect with him.”
Senior Jordan Green says his favorite thing that he has done in Mr. Peters’ class is the study of plants. “We have a growing garden in a backroom of the class and he helps us step by step.”
Green also says “He’s a really fun teacher, he’s great to talk to, great to be around, he also really connects to the students, and he’s a fan of entertainment and you can really connect with him.” He said he enjoys his teaching style because they usually do notes throughout the week and play bingo the day before the test, which makes for a balanced classroom environment.
“Be respectful and have fun, and he’ll be a great teacher for you.”
The Eagle Dispatch Staff would like to congratulate Mr. Peters on getting Teacher of the Year for Woodrow Wilson High School.
