Woodrow Wilson High School’s Robotics Team is a student led organization and advised by Ms. Jo Frost. Though the concept of a robotics club is not foreign to the school, last year was the first time a competitive factor was added. Both Tayshawn and Julian Escott were the first to compete for the school by building a robot for the state competition the previous year. Currently, the group consists of 14 members who plan to attend their first competition on Dec. 9 in Huntington. The inspiration for hosting the club was driven by Ms. Frost’s son’s love for the subject. “I have a 20-year-old son who started in robotics at the end of elementary school,” Frost explains joyfully. Through supporting other robotics teams, students plan to get involved in the community using technology. Additionally, the organization plans on hosting a drone tournament at Woodrow on Jan. 27, 2024.
