The 2022 football season has arrived, and the Flying Eagles have started the season off strong with a 4-1 record.

The Flying Eagles secured wins against Riverside, Bluefield, and arguably their biggest rival, Greenbrier East. Head coach Chad “Street” Sarrett feels confident with this year’s team. “They have put a lot of work in the last four years, they have big things for them if they keep it up,” he said in a recent interview.

The Eagles have an inside play called “bull” which has been a big part of their offense, being their go-to play for first down and touchdowns. This play inaction helped Dermonte Mitchell get a 74-yard touchdown in the action-packed game against Greenbrier East.

With a 4-1 head start, Sarrett is confident his team can be as good or greater than last year’s, including a shot at the playoffs and states this year. “Taking one week at a time… to be 1-0 every Saturday is our goal but making it to the playoffs for a second season,” Sarrett says is their main goal.
