There is no better sound than the crack of the bat as the player hits a hard line drive. As winter ends, spring sports are coming into full swing. Softball is a much-anticipated sport in southern West Virginia. Woodrow Wilson has five seniors returning to the field; Kayla Bird, Abby Wooton, Jayden Shrewsberry, Ava Mullins, and Taylor McDaniel. Head coach Pam Davis says, “This is one of the best group of girls we’ve had in a while—there’s a lot of talent here.”
The Lady Flying Eagles’ first game starts Friday, March 18th at Independence High School. They have a hard schedule this year playing teams like St Albans, Wyoming East, and So. Charleston. Senior Ava Mullins says, “A softball player is more than having the fundamental skills. You have to strive through the game and be a team player.”
The softball team has a bright future for winning this year and we wish them good luck in their season!
