Maddex McMillen: Rising Football Star
February 21, 2022
Woodrow Wilson’s very own Maddex McMillen recently signed with Marshall University as a preferred walk-on.
Maddex started playing football when he was around six years old.
“When I first started, I wanted to play football until I learned that you had to hit people; then I didn’t want to do it, but as soon as I started to actually hit people, I liked it,” said McMillen.
McMillen wore the # 1 jersey as the Flying Eagles starting quarterback and helped lead his team to the state playoffs this year. This year was sentimental for McMillen due to it being the first time Woodrow went to the playoffs in six years and also because it is his senior year.
McMillen hopes to bring a good attitude and confidence to “not just Marshall, but people from Woodrow, just to show people that it is possible,” while also being a hard worker that people can look up to.
Though excited to play for The Thundering Herd, McMillen does admit that he is nervous, since it is a major change from high school to college.
“I honestly just want to come out of Marshall as a better person and leader. Of course, I want to complete my major and become a better football player as well,” said McMillen.
While going to Marshall to play football, McMillen plans to study Pre-Med with an emphasis in Exercise Physiology.
