Woodrow Wilson High School’s yearbook staff has completed the 2024-2025 yearbook. This year’s yearbook featured the theme of “it’s the little moments that matter.” 500 yearbooks were released to production and all copies were bought out by Sunday, April 13. According to the yearbook adviser, Ashlee Smith, yearbook distribution will occur in the middle of May. After the complete cost of production the 2024-2025 yearbook staff raised 1,500 dollars for the purchasing of camera equipment.
The theme of this year’s yearbook was originally proposed and developed by senior, Issac Lambert. Shifting focus from last year’s formal main subject Smith and her students wanted to create a more detailed orientated masterpiece. “What a lot of students remember about high school are the little things, like going out to eat with friends after a game. We wanted to capture that,” Smith remarks. Lambert who was inspired by Pictavo’s gallery of other school yearbooks wanted to capture something meaningful and intentional.
The chemistry of the yearbook staff has gone through many challenges throughout the school year. “Our biggest hurdle was staff adjustments at the semester change, spacing and sizing were also issues on some spreads in the physical yearbook, but overall, I’m proud of how well the team worked together,” Smith states.
In comparison to last year’s edition, the yearbook now features a spread for each junior varsity sports team and provides space for each organization to have their own dedicated page. To achieve this, the staff had to reduce the amount of pages put aside for the graduating class. The editorial team additionally selected more students to provide quotes for photos.
Despite limited space and tight deadlines, Smith and the yearbook staff hope that future editions of the yearbook can include even more coverage of different organizations and student success. As the community looks forward to the arrival of this year’s yearbook, one thing is clear, it truly is the little moments that matter.
