Crossing the finish line one last time, Piper Dangerfield is set to graduate this spring. Known as a humorous and complex individual, Piper will be attending West Virginia University’s Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. During her time on campus, she will stay within the honor dorms and proudly perform in the Pride of West Virginia-Mountaineer Marching Band. Looking forward to the future, Piper boldly states, “I’m excited to be done with high school and move on to college. I will be double majoring in aerospace and mechanical engineering.”
Involved in many organizations throughout her high school career, (Theatre Performance, National Honor Society, Robotics, Woodrow’s National Musical Honor Society (Tri-M), and marching band,) Piper is well-known throughout the community. In total, she will graduate with four cords and a stole. Wearing many hats, she was recognized as president of Tri-M and drum major this year.
Outside of school, Piper manages effects for BDTS (Beckley Dance Theatre School). Performances she has been a part of include The Nutcracker and seasonal recitals. Before working back stage, Piper herself was a dancer. “Sophomore year, I decided to try my hand at something else. I never looked back.” Her last lighting performance of senior year will be at the BDTS spring performance. Hoping to come back and support her team, she expresses gratitude for the many individuals who have guided her. “Pat Almond has been one of my biggest supporters and mentors. She always provides a positive outlook, always standing up for her crew.”
In reflection of the previous four years, Piper offers this advice, “while at times high school might seem stressful, don’t give up. Keep pushing through even when it seems tough, persevere. Ignore the haters, they will always be there.”
