Woodrow Wilson High School Book Club is a collection of students who perform student community outreach by reading aloud. Mr. Travis Doyle has hosted the club since his arrival in 2016. The club itself has gone through many phases including various names.“One of my former students, whom I taught in eighth grade, wanted to start a writing club and there was a book club elsewhere in the building. However, we soon combined the two and called it Literature Club as they did both reading and writing. We also changed the name to Book Club and we focused mostly on the reading aspect.” The books read within the club are based on the student’s tastes and beliefs. During meetings, they are allowed the opportunity to switch, trade, or sell their current choice of literature, as well as discuss their analysis. Currently, the goal of the club is to dive deeper and have more serious conversations about their readings.
If you wish to join, the next meeting will be hosted in C-11 on Oct. 4th after the second dismissal bell.
